308 178 AMax in Varget!!!

Looking for a Varget load for a 178 AMax for a 308 with a 1in12 and another with a 1in10. I am getting good results with the 1in12 with 168 AMax with 43.0 Varget but want see if I could just get one bullet for both guns.

Between 43-45grns depending on barrel and brass. You will find it in there. Seat the bullet about .010" off the lands if possible.

Just loaded them up in increments of .2 from 43.0 to 45.0!!

That's how ya do it!
One of my better groups (1/4") was with 43.5gr. of Varget with the 178gr A-max @ 100yds. I'm a beleiver, believer? I'm happy with them. My rifle the Rem 700 with 26" 1-12 twist loves the 178's.

You might find a couple of loads in that range that show potential, load a few of each with different seating depths (.005 apart is a good start) and see how they go but be aware that seating depth will affect pressures. So if you are near max back off a bit and work back up when you change the jump to the lands.

Shoot 178 amax 44 grains varget. 2.8" O.A.L. been shooting for years. sub 1/2 inch groups at 100 all day long. they claim 178's need a 10 inch twist i disagree. my gun loves em! I've tried dozens of different loads. This is my go to load. Im glad I found someone who agrees!
