    best powder for 308

i reload and am about to start putting together some 168 match ammo
just want to ask whats the best powder for accuracy to see if i find a pattern to the answers and therefore might save some leg work searching for the best powder
i figure if a high percentage of you answer with the same brand then it might be worth buying and trying
    thanks

I've been using Varget. It is said to be temperature insensitive. It has been rather consistent (for me) from below zero temps to 75+ (Alaska). Most reports are that it is still consistent to 100+ temps as well.

It doesn't meter very easily, but I will accept that for consistent every time!

    YMMV, hope it helps.

    I think you'll find Varget, 4064 and RL-15 discussed a lot. My 168 load uses 4064.
As you journey through life take a minute every now and then to give a thought for the other fellow. He could be plotting something.

Varget is my go to powder for .308. Actually the only powder I use. Have tried others like RL15, IMR4895, IMR4064 but found Varget gives me everything I need. Gives the speed and accuracy I need in many weight bullets and is also very temp insensitive.

Varget and H4895 both my favorites, Varget is a little better IMO.

I like Varget, IMR-8208-XBR, RL-15 and IMR-4064. From these 4 propellents, if you can't find an accurate load for any bullet weight for the .308 WCF, there is something wrong with your rifle or reloading technique. If I had to go with one powder alone, it would be Varget hands down.

In what way(s) do you find Varget better than H4895?
    For what bullets?

I rather curious about H4895 for use with 155's as it is a faster powder and Hodgdon's published data show it's a full grain lower for a max charge for about the same FPS and is not compressed.

It certainly looks worth trying out unless there's something about it people don't like.
