    How about a handload?

Sierra 155 grain Palma bullet, 47.5 grains of IMR-4064, Winchester brass, Federal Match Primers, OAL 2.775". Muzzle velocity around 2800 fps.

This is a maximum load. So start your loading at about 42 or 43 grains and work your way upward as pressure indications would allow.

Mlammers suggested to buy Hornady TAP instead, with the 155 grain A-Max bullet. Does anyone know the BC of that one?

Hornady advertises it at a .435 BC

I thought I would bring this thread back up...

last week for my weekly shooting, I decided to shoot up the last of my federal GMM 155gr ammo, but this time out of a 26" barrel instead of the 23". As we suspected, the velocities do quite well, and if you have a 26" 308 rifle, the 155 really seems to get a lot velocity gain with the longer barrel. The rifle I used was the 700P 26".

The average velocity on a 55 degree day at 3200' above sea level was 2906 fps, and with the excellent sierra 155gr bullet that makes some excellent long range ballistics. Keep in mind the BC is nearly identical to the 168gr bullet, but it is leaving the barrel at 300 fps faster...

too bad federal no longer loads the 155 palma load.... but lapua does.

I've seen some excellent results with the Winchester 155 Palma's and they're a lot easier on the pocket too.

    Unfortunately I don't Mel.
There's no info on the Winchester Ammo website about them.
But where I shoot, that is the factory ammo that every palma and F class standard shooter uses.
The box is Winchester Super X and there's a sticker on the side that reads NSWRA (New South Wales Rifle Association) Palma match 155 .308 ???
I do know that they are rolled with a mix of powders.
I found that my rifle shoots better groups with the 155 Winnies than the 168 Feds, but that's not a very fair comparison, because the barrel I had fitted to my action (1:13 x 30") is suited to the 155 pills.
I don't know if you have Highland ammo in the states, but I do know that their Palma 155 loads are absolute crap.
