    .300 Remington Ultra Mag loads

I'm looking for a good load for my .300 RUM. Maybe a load with IMR 7828, Hodgdon H1000,Or Accurate4350.These are some slow burners I have already. The .300 has a 26" barrel with a 1 in 10 twist. I'm thinking 180 grain Nosler ballistic or Sierra hpbt. Thanks in advance for any help.

RL-25 is like magic with 180gr. bullets IN MY .300 RUM.
IMR 7828 also shot MOA or a little better.

Excellent accuracy and performace with that rifle.

    Cheaptrick,

What were your start loads on RL-25 and IMR 7828? What were the primers? I'll start out 3 grains less and work up.The Nosler No.5 I'm using doesn't list RL-25.It doesn't list US869 - Who sells that powder? The loads from Long Range Hunting are great too.I'm planning on joining the login to get more info. Thanks for the help guys.Keep the input coming.

    Thanks Stormrider,
There were a lot of loads for the US869, most of them for 240 grain bullets. They seem to get phenomenal accuracy from them.I think I'll try 180s first. If I don't get good accuracy, I'll try 200s, then 240s.

I haven't gotten around to it yet but I plan on trying the 869 and 240 SMK loads in mine. I shoot 210 Bergers and Retumbo. They seem like they will shoot very well. Still have testing to do...

    ...

Wondering what people think of this cartridge especially when compared to the 300 Win Mag or the 300 WSM.
Guns don't kill people. Sarah Brady does.

Jeff, I sold that rifle a few years ago to finance another "project".
It was a Sendero S/F and I used several 180gr. hunting bullets like the TSX, Partitions, SST's, Sierra Pro Hunter, etc.
My load was rather light, but it was lethal.

    93 gr. RL-25
    Fed 215M primers

I actually got the recipe above off of Long Range Hunting myself. LOL
    Those guys are VERY knowledgeable.

    I don't recall the 7828 load.
I'll look through my paperwork and try to find out.

    I love a .300 WM.
That said, IF YOU RELOAD, I like a .300 UM.
    No stupid belt.

If you don't reload, I'd stick to a .300 WM.
LOTS more ammo options out there.
