    From Berger's web site

Q: Where can I get loading data for Berger Bullets?
A: A loading manual will be available soon but until then you can email your cartridge and bullet data to bergerltd@aol.com. Starting and max loads will be emailed back to you.

    Google search provided this:
Match Load: 54.0gr H4831, CCI BR
    Bullet: Berger 180 VLD

This link should give you a zip file. This is the description of the file:
To download a .Zip archive with Jerry Tierney's load data, component list, and field testing results for 180gr Bergers, 175gr SMKs, 162gr Amax (all 7mm), plus his 6.5-284 data and 6BR Improved data. (Archive contains seven MS Word files.)

Personally, I would follow Madgunsmith's directions on finding the IMR plateau with a good balanced load and live with that. From what I have read, IMR4831 would be a good powder to try.

    Hi Linksmechanic

I have been using the Berger 180vld for a while (in .284W) ,and have been doing some load developement.Have found that 53-54gn H4831Sc seems to work well.My Barrel (30" Border) likes 53.4gn H4831Sc best.Like most Bergers I found they like to be jammed and have gone as far as .020 jam with success.I have also tried the H4831 (NON-SHORT CUT),which according to Hodgdon is identical. THIS IS NOT THE CASE.The H4831 in identical loads and all else being the same(as near as I can get anyway!) was dropping a good 4-6" more than the H4831Sc at 600 yds.The recoil from the H4831 was significantly less than the Sc for identical loads.Need to do some chrony work to see what is happening.
    Hope this is some help.

Thanks for the help. But what does Jam mean and how do you measure this.

No problem,I remember when I first started reloading ,and it all semed so complicated. The SP gauge is a great piece of kit.If you order up one of the prepared cases for each cartridge you shoot, at the same time, you will be good to go.If you have any questions on use of the gauge send me a pm.
