    Parkerizing

I'm looking to buy a Remington 700 SPS Tactical but its my belief that it's blued and not parkerized. Being a do-it-yourselfer I found a parkerizing kit on Brownell's. My question, which type do y'all recommend, Manganese or Zynic? What are the pros on cons of both types? Once I change the stock I may or maynot paint the rifle.

Also, just another question, I have a SigSauer P220 with the older carbon steel slide. I let a student of mine at the police academy clean it during firearms training and he screwed it up. Now the slide is covered in rust. Should I
    A. Send it to Sig Sauer for refinishing in the Nitron finish
    B. Blue it myself
    C. Try my hand at parkerizing it before trying it on my rifle

There are different ways to parkerize that have been posted on the web. On the 220, I'd try my hand at the pakerizing, bluing from home can be costly to set up.

Send it to sig for a refinish. Their finish should not have come off. What did he do to that thing?

He bathed it in solvant and didn't oil it. It had the original blue finish but this new Nitron finish is nice and durable. Its my baby so I'm considering sending it in, but I'd like to practice the parkerizing lol
