I have a savage 111 in .270 Winchester and I was wondering if there was a conversion kit to change the 111 detachable to a blind mag. the reason behind this is that the stock I purchased recently is only for the blind mag.

Wasn't this a rifle you were posting on a while back, about trying to install a B&C Medalist stock? Seems like we discussed this before. If it's the one I'm thinking of, you must have decided that making the drop mag was too much to mess with. I'd have gone the same way.

I've seen the blind mag kit advertised on Midway USA's site.

Here's pics of my little Stevens 200 .308's blind mag. A Savage 10 in cheap clothing.

First, the follower and spring. They just rest against the bottom of the stock, and ride in the tin magwell.

Here's a left side bottom view of the well.

Here's a view of the front of the magwell, where the lip slides into a groove.

Here's a view of the rear of the magwell, where the lip at the rear runs through a rear groove.

Here's a side view of the whole assembly.

Hopefully these pics will give you an idea of where things go. Sorry it took so long.Lately I've been working 12 hour days in this sweat shop of my own making.

thanks for the pics.... I guess I cannot change my 111 into a blind mag because it dosent have the groves machined into the receiver....also my folower is way different than yours, mine is made of plastic an has a oval shaped wire spring.....

If you could take a pic of your rifle's magwell area, where the drop mag enters the receiver, perhaps something could be done with it. Brownell's shows a couple types, but it doesn't seem like it would be cost effective to make a different receiver just for a detatchable magazine. a drop mag would sure be cool to have for competition purposes.

Here is a pic of the receiver that I posted in the other thread, you can see that there is no grove cut into the recevier.

Yours is an Accutrigger , whereas mine isn't. Perhaps thats the difference. I have seen other drop mags that were similar to mine, but yours is slightly different.Maybe if you put the blind magazine up against the bottom of your reciever, the stock might hold it in place.Or, possibly you coulb use bedding material to hold the magazine in place by moulding it into the stock. It would be a shame to modify the stock, but if you gotta, you gotta.

I was able to modify (hours of hand filing) the magazine until it was able to fit into the grove of my receiver. after testing the feeding by using a dummy round, then filing, then testing, then filing..... I have finally come up with a reliable feeding magazine. Right now it is held against the receiver via two strips of duct tape, so I may take your idea and use bedding compound and fit the magazine into the stock.

Well. looks like you're doing all you can at this point. A buddy of mine has a 111, but I've never seen it with the stock off. I have model 10s, 110s and a couple 200 Stevens, none like yours, exactly.

so I finally got off my butt and bought some bondo, that was an experience.... after about 4 applications I have fixed the magazine in place. I had originally intended on allowing the mag to be removeable but the silicone release agent didnt work. After I let it dry for a few hours I broke out the dremill and started working with the wire brush, I cleaned up alot of the excess but it still needs alot of work. Will post pics tommorow.
