I bought a CAI 1911 .45, stamped "elite". I have no idea wether or not its a decent pistol but it was 200 bux brand new so i figured, "what the hell"

The only stampings on it are CAI Georgia,VT

S.A.M PHILIPPENES

also ELITE(i assume the model name) And a serial number

It seems to be of good quality, aside from having plastic grips. Anyone know anythign about these pistols?

CAI is Century Arms. They are an importer only. You may want to give them a call to see what you can learn about that particular pistol. I haven't dealt with them personally so i have no ideea how far you will get via that route. I am not too familiar with 1911's out of the Philippines either.

century does a lot of buying of surplus parts and puts them together to make them US compliant. i have an AK47 and an FAL that were put together by Century. they are nice rifles, with no problems to report, but i've seen some other examples where the QC guys must have fallen asleep on the line.

Is it based on the 1911 or 1911A1? My Essex 1911 got stolen and I'm looking to replace it. Please keep me posted on the performance.
Welcome to SC Mountain Man. Friendly reminder: please only press the "Submit" button once. The post above was duplicated 5 times in this thread. I have deleted duplicates of several of your other posts as well, which is why your post number is reduced.

Additionally, this thread hasn't been active for nearly a year. I like zombies as much as the next fellow, but you may want to start a new thread rather than dredge up this one. I haven't seen Dead Roman here in many months.

Sorry to hear about your Essex.
