6.5 lapua deer hunting results!!! GRAPHIC PICS!!!!

Mods if pics to graphic PLEASE DELETE!

finally season opened and I got to put my CBI barreled savage 6.5x47 LAPUA to use. Rounds used are handloaded 123gr. a-max over 40.0 grains of h4350, lapua cases, and cci BR primers! First round hit right in crease of shoulder (just under front action screw in pic 1) broad side at 185 yards buck hunched up, wobbled 10 yards and dropped!

pic 2 is enterance wound in hide, pic 3 is exit wound about 4 inch diameter, pic 4 is enterance wound on rib cage about 2 inch diameter, round penetrated about an inch of fur skin and tissue before hitting rib cage, from what I can tell this round penetrates about an inch in soft tissue then violently expands creating a 2.5-4 inch permanent cavety through the animal.

    Amazing!

Most Match bullets tend to rapidly and uncontrollably expand on impact, causing huge loss of meat, bone and metal fragments throughout the animal.

If the match bullets were bonded it would help with this. But I havnt seen a match bullet constructed this way.

Wouldn't have that problem with a bullet designed for hunting unless you hit a big bone like I did.

    Nice animal.

~edit~ fixed to better clarify what I meant.
~2nd edit~ further thoughts and clarification.

That's a categorical statement that just is not true. "Match round" can be applied to a HUGE host of bullets and cartridges. Some of them may exhibit that terminal behavior under given conditions, and some will not, depending on bullet design, impact velocity, and medium impacted.

Impact velocity is certainly affected by cartridge choice behind the bullet, and maybe more importantly in this scenario, by the RANGE of the animal. Hitting bone versus muscle versus aramid fiber...can drastically change the performance of a given bullet at any range. And to state that, under the same conditions, a given Sierra match bullet will perform the same as an otherwise ballistically "equal" Berger (or fill in the blank) is dead wrong.

I am not being nitpicky, I am pointing out the value of paying attention to detail in HOW you say things, and it's ramifications for the validity of your comment.
