I searched this forum for this topic before posting and didn't see much. I am new to this forum and I must say I really enjoy reading the various posts and the write ups that Mel does on the rifles. I read his review of the Remington 700 SPS Tactical .308 and saw one for a good price so I bought it. I also found what I beleive to be an excellent scope for about 50% off retail and snatched it up. It's a Leupold VX-III 4.5-14x50mm LR w/ an Illuminated Fine Duplex Reticle. I'm not a huge fan of the fine duplex reticle. I don't have any experience with this reticle, just seems too fine for anything other than bench shooting. Anyway - I have read alot about the MILDOT reticle and the Boone & Crockett Reticle from Leupold and they both seem excellent. I am not as serious of a long range shooter as most on this forum, but would like to have decent equipment in case I do decide to get serious. Just wanted your thoughts on what reticle is best for combo hunting/long range shooting?
Thanks in advance.
