It's my personal opinion based on me phisically owning one and comparing it side-by-side to choices I feel are better for reasons which don't need your approval in my world. And to be clear, my "others" list is short.

I wouldn't argue that some like it or feel its a good unit. Those that like it are not wrong IMO nor would I say that they're wrong, its just that my litmus is different and it's going on my weapon. Trust me my friend...you don't get a say in it.

Are you going to tell me next that I wear the wrong type of underwear?

The weakest link is the screws that pull it to the receiver. All rem 700 rails are attached by the same size screws, unless you drill and tap.

Please elaborate on how the NF mount is flimsy.

To clarify I'm not saying that to imply a fact. I like to get as close as possible to having a weapon that could at least survive a decent drop, such as maybe 4 feet onto some gravel (I'm not greedy).

I wanted more rail contact area
    Heavier fasteners
    Multiple recoil lugs
    Wider rings

In that light I found something that was clearly stouter than a NF uni-mount. Not that a uni-mount couldn't meet my durability standards...I don't know if it would or not, But I'm certain that my choice would fair better from purely a "bigger is better/stouter" standpoint. If you saw them side by side you'd come to the same conclusion...that by comparison the NF looks flimsy. I went with a USO for the same reason...I wanted something that could take field abuse.

OHHHH. I see how your confused. You thought we were talking about the unimount. We are taking about the DIRECT mount.

I agree that the unimount is not the most durable option.

This was all a simple miscommunication.

No foul. I didn't know they even had a direct mount. Almost doesn't matter how stout the mount is for those applications. I'd imagine that the DM is way stronger than what its mounted to.
