How to convert inches into MOA?

Can anyone explain how I go about converting inches to MOA adjustments? I can't seem to wrap my head around this.
I went to parochial school

My NightForce is 1/4" MOA adj.

For an examle using wind drift. Shooting a Federal .308 / 168gr. BTHP
Wind is 5mph (full wind at 90*), distance is 700 yards. The drift is at
    23.5".

How do I convert the 23.5" into the proper MOA? What is the formula
    to make this work please...

    Thanks.

Why not just have your program give you data in true MOA? No conversions needed.

NF knobs are true MOA, not 1/4" MOA.

7 x 1.047= 7.329 (how many inches equals 1 MOA at that range)

    23.5" / 7.329 = 3.20 MOA of correction

But it would be easier to run your charts in true MOA and then just correct off that and not even think about inches as they are not neeed.

    Rob01,

Let me see if I've got this right.
You multiply the distance x 1.047. That number is then divided into the drop in inches? Y/N?

    Example:
    900 yards. 9 x 1.047 = 9.423. The drop in inches at 900 yds. is 42.1"
    42.1 / 9.423 = 4.46 or 4.46 MOA correction.

    Would this be correct?

Yup that's about it but what I really want to know what only takes 4.46 MOA of elevation to get to 900 yards!

Using a Wind Drift Chart / Drop in inches for
    Federal .308 / 168gr. BTHP

5 mph full wind (90*) at 900 yards. The drift is 42.1".

Thanks very much for making this very easy to understand and calculate.
    Best.

I was just making a joke. LOL "Drop" usually indicates elevation adjustments and 4.42 MOA would be a serious flat shooting round

    Drift is usually wind corrections.
