    Remington 5R or Sendero?

I am trying plan my next hunting rifle build up in 300 win mag and was trying together pros and cons for a 5R and Sendero. I am looking for a lightweight rifle and will be upgrading the stock to a McMillan HTG.

    Thanks

I don't know what the Sendero weighs, but my 5R is about 11 pounds with the HS, and its a 308, excellent rifle though, I couldn't be any happier with it.

The Sendero's are all fluted I believe, which would save a little weight, if that's your concern. Since you are going to swap out a stock, the shorter 5R stock (about 2" shorter than standard P/PSS stocks) wouldn't be an issue (not sure of stock size on Sendero's anyways).

The new Senderos ARE fluted. I have an old school one with the non-fluted high carbon barrel and she's a tack driver, that's for sure... it's a .270 though and not too hot on the caliber. We'll see how it does for elk season next fall in the mountains If I get a job anytime soon I may get my hands on a .376 steyr, the more I read about the caliber the more I like it, and it sure would make hiking through the mountains a heck of alot easier with a Jeff Cooper rifle.
