    Custom .408 Cheytac

Im thinking about having my gunsmith build a .408 cheytac on a Stiller action, with a Mcree Precision Stock, Nightforce 5.5-22 optic, bobro bipod, Cheytac muzlze brake, but I'm not sure what barrel to use, such as length, rate of twist, manufacturer, ect. Any recomendations?

Dude to be all realistic w/ you, if you haave 8 bucks a round all the power to you, but if you dont I suggest a .338 lapua mag, gets you out to 2000 yards w/ the proper load and wont break the bank. If you reload the .338 can be loaded match quality ammo for about a buck to a buck fifty a pop

If the 408 is what you want to build an have the cash to build it. Then by all means build it.

Personaly didn't care for it much.
Here awhile back i had two in hand. one was mine one was a buddies, unseen reasons i had to part with mine befor i ever got to fire it.

If you are just looking for a very impressive round granted he 338LM and the RUM are very impressive rounds. My next one will be a 338 Edge much better performance than than any 338 i have ever shot.

If 2K is your goal you can build yourself a good ol' .30-06. Lammers has them shootin true to 2K.

The rifle you've described sounds beautiful. The Surgeon XL receiver would work also but Stiller makes good stuff.

never heard of the 338 edge before but a quick google turned this up http://www.longrangehunting.com/articles/338-edge-1.php very interesting caliber pretty impressive results.

The one i shot while over in Idaho for awhile was very impressive. have had the 300/338 RUM's and never really cared for them.

After shooting the 408CT yes it is a very impressive round but after cost of rifle ammo reloading gear for it. Just don't see a use for it. Thats my personal point.

For quite abit less that 338edge is quite impressive. Pretty sure that will be the next build.

If you guys go to Youtube, and type in "long range shooting" the first page has a couple guys putting the .338 edge to the test at 1,640yds. It's about 7-9min long and they take all kinds of animals from 500 to 1400yds then shoot gongs at 1,600yds to 2,000yds. Its a Nightforce/.338 edge type promo kinda, but you can tell by the video these are 1shot kills.
Anyway, you might check it out.
