Need advice on a cheek piece for Remington 700

I am looking for a cheek piece for Remington 700P in HS Precision stock. I need one that is adjustable, detachable, and can be shipped internationally. If you dealt with this issue, I would appreciate your comments. Thank you!

Simplest is to get something like a TacOps strap on cheek pad (available from Mel's store). You can add some more height by putting a piece of foam under it - a cut up mouse pad will work.

For a more high tech solution, get a Karsten cheek rest (also available from Mel). These are made of kydex and can be custom molded to your stock. You will need to drill holes for the bolts, but that's not a really big deal.

I have the Karsten on my Savage. Works very well, i like the adjustment you can get from it.

Thanks for the advice. If I got it right, Mel's store is the SC store on this site, correct?

What do you do with it when you have to clean the barrel? Do you take the cheek piece off or raise it for the rod to go right through?

You can remove it or lower it for cleaning. Same goes for any adjustable cheek piece.

My Karsten cheek rest should be in the mailbox tomorrow, have researched it for a few days, hear nothing but great stuff about it. Also found out karsten made the cheek rests on our squad dedicated marksmen rifles, so I know you can beat them to death. If they survive 12+ months in the Korengal, they are just about indestructible, especially in the hands of 11B's....

When you go to install, just be sure and take the time to test the position repeatedly to make sure it's where you want and that the bolt clears it (I like to be able to remove the bolt without lowering the rest).

If you have some styrofoam, you can cut strips to fit under the rest while you are positioning it. Make sure you test from the same kind of position you shoot from.

I use a tac ops cheek pad from mel's store . I have a rolled up piece of t shirt under it to raise my cheek to the right height . I have a savage hs pecision with a vortex viper pst 6-24 x 50 with med rings . so I had to build up a little . It looks and feels good but I have to remove it to clean the gun is my only gripe .
