Question Savage 11/111 Long Range OR Browning X-Bolt Stalker LR?

First thread and new here so sorry if I break a rule.
Also, sorry I cannot post links yet.

Going with 300 WinMag, I intend to do long range shooting and hunting. I found Browning at $800, and Savage around $900. Prefer not to spend over $1000.

I am not sure what to get. The internet does not have a lot of reviews for these 2.

I am leaning towards the Savage due to its superior stock trigger, but have the notion that Browning is an overall better brand.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance.

Also, what do you know about budsgunshop? They have the Savage for $650 but it seems fishy to me. Maybe an older model?

    Why 300 WM?
    Bears, Elk, Buffalo?
Hunting max range verses target max range?
    Do you reload?
    Budget for optics?
    Previous experience?

300WM for ballistics catering to long range and yes for big game, most likely bear or elk.
Hunting I would say 600 yards max, target I would like to get to 1000 yards.
My coworker would reload for me.
    Optic budget under $1000
Only deer hunting experience and AR Plinking

    Thanks for the response man

    Tikka for consideration.
    Bears at close range?
I want more than a 300 WM and I want Mauser style controlled round feed.
7mm Magnum is plenty for Elk.

CZ Safari Magnum with 4 or 5 rounds of 375 H&H or bigger and a red dot.
    CZ-USA CZ 550 American Safari Magnum - CZ-USA

100 yards is CQB close for big bears.
An Olympic sprinter could not get away from one.

10-15 seconds before you smell its breath.

    Not my cup of tea.

Like so many other before you, your trying to get one rifle for different jobs.

The 300WM your looking at is a fine fit for the hunting you want to do. However it's way to much gun for a inexperienced long range shooter. To be able to take a 600 yard shot on a animal takes lots of practice. Remember your trying to make one shot one kill. That type of confidence only comes after much practice. It's not uncommon to shoot 50 rounds in a practice session. That's a lot of abuse from a 300WM.

I strongly suggest you get a target rifle first, then get a hunting rifle a little later. Or if you have a AR15 build another upper for it and then get your 300WM.

I redefined trust between my wife and I. Bought her a gun, hand loaded ammo for it, showed her how to shoot it, and made her the beneficiary on my life insurance.

I've bought 2 Howa's from Buds and have been very happy with both purchases. I don't own a Browning but I do own a Savage and 3 Remingtons. I bought a Howa and like it better. It has the features that I wanted for me.

I voted savage, not because the xbolt is a bad gun it just doesn't have the aftermarket support that the savage has.
Your choices for bottom metal are factory, triggers you got factory or jard, there are stocks but no chassis that I know of, the barrels need fitted like a Remington, (with a 300 win mag that should be considered)

Now don't get me wrong I have a xbolt and its a fine rifle but if you plan on spending time on the range honing your shooting skills I think the savage would serve the average person better.

Oops I apologize I didn't know I got several replies. Thanks a ton for the help. I would have probably went with the Browning, but I actually found a Sako A7 Long Range 300 WinMag at Cabelas on sale for $900 (was $1300). Met all of my most important criteria and the internet loves it and Sako rifles in general.

Much better choice for a hunting rifle.
