    Sniper/Spotter lingo procedure.

How's it going. This my first post. This seems like a excellent site with lots of informative topics. Regarding my question, is their a standardized procedure and dialog for a spotter adjusting rds for his shooter or do each team do whatever works for them. Hope this makes sense.

Generally it is team dependent, but there tend to be similarities. In the teams I've served with, we tended to give corrections or adjustments in the number of clicks on the scope, and would specify if it were to be different. i.e. If I said, come left 3. That meant 3 clicks. But I could also say, come left 5 MOA, if I did not specify MOA, he would come left 5 clicks on the scope. All of my active time on teams was with the Leupold M3A 10x scope, so for elevation, we had the BDC and would say something to 7 plus 1 which would be 700 meters, plus one click up (click = 1 MOA on that scope). Or 9 minus 2 would be 900 meters on the BDC minus 2 clicks.

The signaling when ready, confirming the go, and many other virbal/no verbal communcation gets worked out as a team
