That is a 2 3/4" on the left. Now our chambers all
fire shorter plastic and brass cases. Here is pic
of my Savage 210 12ga bolt action we put on heavy
barrel and long chamber. Ed
The first 12GA FH was Robs on AR forum, my Savage was 2nd.
Here is closeup pic of Rob's 12GA FH, a Borchardt falling block
action. Real nice. In picture is along brass 12ga case with one
of Rob's 2000gr bore rider, solid, streamlined slugs. Ed
This is a "popular subject" for sure... Here's a link to 10 pages of discussion->
I like the concept as it's sort of the ".50 BMG of shotguns".
Politicians and diapers both require frequent changing for the EXACT same reason...
Just curious, can you ream any say 3 1/2" chamber to accept long brass? What issues would you have with pressure further down the barrel than the original chamber?
And lastly where are your cases modified from existing, or custom made?
Any length 12ga chamber will fire plastic or brass
cases of the same or shorter length. Many 2 3/4 and
3" chambers have been lengthened to 3.5".
In my NEF I lengthened 3" to 3. 85" for the long brass
case we made by putting 12ga size rims on bmg brass.
Others are getting turned brass cases made by RMC
I used NEF because it has heavy barrel full length.
Which is needed due to our slow powder loads with larger
amounts of powder. And that is reason we also added thick
barrels to Savage and Borchardt. It is larger amounts of slower
powders that determine the need for heavy barrels, not
case length. With factory fast shotgun powder loads most
of the space in case is wads.Even 3.5". We just replaced that
with more slower powder. Here is pic of bmg cases with original
rims turned off, stub threaded, to take the premade 12ga rim
pieces shown. Also completed, loaded cases shown.
Also 2nd picture of my NEF I lengthened chamber on,
added heavy thumbhole stock. It fires any 12ga case made
no matter the length up to 3.85". Ed

Very inovative work sir, have you explored the legality of hunting with this round as a slug gun?
It is a legal US 12ga round, as long as the chamber
fires 12ga cases of same or shorter length.
The name you give it has no legal standing, like magnum,
paradox, from hl, high speed, superx, etc. Shotgun
barrels are marked with gauge and length.
As for local hunting. Here you can use 2 3/4,3, 3.5, etc
any length case slug load, paper, brass, plastic, etc, any
slug, saboted slug, lead slug, jacketed slug, except explosive
projectiles. Just got to be straight sided 12ga case
IE, you can't neck down a 40mm case to 12ga bore size
and make a legal 12ga. As other regular cases wouldn't
fire in it. Ed
