    No problem.

Sure did. I don't think it'd be worth it...it's just krylon.

did you used some type of primer and has any paint flaked off on other areas of the rifle
I didn't use any primer, I just degreased the whole rifle and scope with acetone. Though in the past I have lightly sanded the barrelled action (if not parked), and stock with 220 grit sandpaper. Other than the scope caps, (which I shoulda lightly sanded) the paint has only chipped under the forearm. But this rifle sees 10+ hours in the field per week shooting off rocks, trees, windowsills and everything else you can imagine. I would have gone all out with the sanding and whatnot on the rifle but chances are it's paint job will change when it snows.

I did notice that tactical rifles like the Savage 10 FD and Rem. sps for example come with a finish on the metal (I don't know how they call it)
That's called parkerizing. With that finish, no sanding is needed before painting. It will hold paint much better than normal blued barrels, even after being sanded. No primer is really needed when you paint rifles.

also have you heard of permanent camo by specialty something they say is better than Krilon or rustolium camo
Duracoat is probably the most popular (tough) finish. With duracoat though, you'll need an airbrush to apply it. I used krylon. Hopefully I answered some of your questions.

I too am waiting on a rifle from Mark. It's been back and forth beween him and Birdsong a couple of times because of shipping damage.
    The wait is killing me.

Don't feel bad. Mine took longer then expected to get together. Then I got it just long enough to shoot it a bit. Then I sent to Mike for a can and it just now got back. Now I have to wait a bit more to get it back from birdsong. At this rate I might get to shoot it again in a couple of years.

If you can see the big picture, you are not concentrating on your front sight post.
