    Berger VLD Wound

There has been afew wounder how the newer berger hunting vld's work on game.

I have only recovered one bullet from an animal but can't find it now.

This pic is just afew hours ago just after dark.

    300 win mag 185vld. 2900 fps average.

The hole going in is about 5/8in and coming out well you can see it took everything with it. This was shot about 300 yards.

After i get threw all this coming up i'm gonna try my hand at building some gell to shoot into. So i can see what they are really doing.

    Tom,

What length barrel are you shooting? My 208's are running 2880 out of my 22". 7.1 mils out to 1000. I'd think 2900 should be very doable in a 24 or 26.

2,900 fps should be fairly easy

I'm betting on some olympic-class tumbling when they hit that tissue and are immediately and catastrophically over-stable in the new medium. I just wonder if they break up under the pressure, or whether they hold together (doubt it).

    Bottoms up!

One of the 300RUM's I built was shooting the 210's at 3,250fps, in a dot. They were blowing up on deer inside of 300 yards.

Yeah. Understand. My 200g SMK load is running 2830 but shoots the lights out. I have some work to do on the Amax's yet. May move over to Berger's or JLK's. Have a few friends that have had better luck with them past 600 yds. Amax's are cheap.

BTW... finally dug this out of the archives. This was 200g Accubond @ 2950fps @ 100 yds.

He's all that kept me from being skunked last year.
