Here is a very old photo of my M&P 5.45x39 Upper. I used a Troy Ind Drop in quad rail. No gun smithing is required. I'm not so much a fan of the railed gas block... but some companies are making BUIS to accommodate for the offset height.

Since this photo, I have dremelled off the A2 Front Sight, chopped the barrel to 10.5" and am installing a VTAC TRX 9" handguard.

Depends on the length of the handguard and gas system on your rifle. If it is a midlength gas system you can use the midlength handguard and still use the gas block. Same for carbine or rifle length. You will probably have to remove the gas block to install the handguard, then reinstall it.

He's got a Carbine Length Gas system on that.
Any of the Drop In 7" rails will work for him. No removal of the front sight, or gas block as shown is needed.
Troy Drop Ins (you want CAR Length, as shown above) http://store.troyind.com/Drop_In_BattleRails_s/4.htm
Daniel Defense Omega 7" Rails (My favorite Drop Ins, get this one) https://danieldefense.com/rail-systems/ ... rbine.html

These are the best options, if you do not want to do any gunsmithing. If you are a gunsmith, there are better options available. Say Larue and Troy VTAC Rails

Just got my Cyclone. Currently both rifles are 5.56, but I'm waiting on a 16" 300BLK barrel from Wilson Combat for my SPR build. And, next week, I'll get my .308 Remington 700 threaded.
