    Remington 700 Police uneven parkerized

    Hello everyone:
Im new to this forum, so I say hello to everyone. Im from Spain, so I must apologise for my bad english.

The subject is, that I own a Remington 700P, that I purchased brand new this year, and now, after several months of normal use, I have noticed that an important area of barrel finish, has a different tonality than the rest, and its very obvious under daylight, bur its even more obvious when using a white led torch. After talking to the importer in my country, he says "that its something normal, and all the other 700Ps that hes got in stock, present the same effect". Even so, Im not convinced abouut it, and thats why I would like to writte this thread, in order to search for your advices, and opinions.

    Here you have a picture:

Greetings from Spain, and thank you in advance.

Have you tried oiling the barrel?

It looks like the barrel was touching the bottom of the bluing tank during the process. It can't touch any part of the tank during the process they have to hung from a wire. The barrel needs to be stripped and re-blued.

The importer says that, being in Europe, its not possible to send it to Remington.

    Greetings

I'm sorry I need to correct myself I didn't mean bluing I meant parkerizing. It's kinda the same thing. Same operations just different chemical and temperature.

How much did you pay for it?

In my country, it costs 1400-1500 euros. I purchased it brand new, directly from the importer, in april, this year.

I did with DURARACOTE in a Dragunov , whose finish I disliked, and the result was great.

Wow they have a huge markup....the reason I asked is if it was extremely cheap is cause there are some importer who buy blemished firearms for rock bottom prices and sell them for dirt cheap. And the blemishes is stuff like what is wrong with your barrel.

Did you pick it up from the importer or did they mail it to you?
