    another bipod topic: bipod feet

after looking at rifles i can't afford online(trg-42, barrett, etc.) i noticed that several of the bipods on them appear to have skid plate type feet on them instead of rubber or a claw. Do they have spikes under the skid plate to keep from sliding? Or are they not meant to be loaded like a harris since they aren't spring loaded? it might be a simple answer, but i have yet to see one in person and was curious. thanks

The skid plate (or ski type) is made for use on loose surfaces like sand, snow, or mud. The larger surface area is designed to stop them from sinking. In my experience, you are better off with a mat or tarp of some kind.

It takes 47 muscles to scowl, and only 17 to smile. Proper trigger squeeze takes 3. Relax, and go with it.

Another use for the skids is if you are having to engage several targets or moving targets, they allow the rifle to pan. Problem is, they have no grip so you can't load the bipod.
