After last month's "Warmup" here's a new challenge.
1. Shoot as many targets as you'd like. However you can only post one target, per class.
2. All targets must be posted by 11:59pm Pacific time on the last day of the month.
3. You must follow the coarse of fire for that months target. Each target will have a maximum number of shots allowed.
4. Use any rifle that you'd like. Minimum distances are as follows:
a. Airrifle 25 yards
b. Rimfire 50 yards
c. Centerfire 100 yards
5. Be sure to include what rifle, round, position, and distance you've shot the target with in your post. Writing it on the target is fine.
Addded twist for this month, Shoot 10 rounds but Only shots that hit totally within the confines of the card count as a "card" for your final hand Cut the border line and "no card".
Scoring will be based on the best 5 cards and standard poker rules apply for hierarchy of hands.
Target can be downloaded here:
Remember, keep it inside the lines so you can get the max number of cards to make a good hand from.
PS: While the target says only 7 shots you actually get 10 but have the "accuracy handicap" added.
Note: Unlike a regular poker game, booze and cigars will not help here
Very cool. Thanks for bringing this.
Just remember that unlike most other scoring, if you touch the line around the "Card", that card is no longer usable. This is one that you clearly want the hole well inside the border.
It's going to be interesting on the hands we end up with for sure.
I'm not much of a poker player. What's the highest hand, a royal flush? A,K,Q,J,10,9,8,7,6,5? Or 4 aces and a royal flush?
A K D J 10 in one colour ... royal flushScoring will be based on the best 5 cards and standard poker rules apply for hierarchy of hands.
I'll be shooting mine in spaded
In normal poker all suits are considered equal. Bridge ranks suits with Spades being highest and Clubs lowest.
If we have a tie with two royal flushes (A,K,O,J,10, same suit) we'll just split the prize between the winners
I tried to shoot this today at 202yds. With snow and little wind, even with a 1/2moa rifle, it was very difficult. I think this one is more suited for 100yds. I'll try again next week with the 308.
This is a tough one. Shot 2 targets today. I would have had a royal flush on both if standard roles were applied and a broke line counted. It's tough to discern which card is which. Going to try another attempt next weekend hopefully.
