    ATF FFL Transfers (number of)

    .

Deep in my synapses, I remember being told of a "limit"
to how many FFL transfers (transferring a purchased firearm to oneself)
one could make in a given period of time.

No more than two (2) within a 7 day period?
Or... no more than three (3) within a 30 day period?
Or... whatever, I don't remember, but SOME kind of "transfers per number of days" limit.

    ACTUALLY... breaking it down here:

It wasn't that there was an actual "limit".
You could transfer ever how many you wanted.

But if it was over the ATF "parameter", the FFL had to forward an additional form to the ATF,
informing (ALERTING?!?!?!) them of a "high volume" buyer.

    Yeah, don't that sound great.
Now you're on some kind of an ATF watch list, just because you jumped on a 4th of July or Black Friday sale and bought a bunch of guns you had been drooling over.

Does anybody KNOW of this "parameter"?
    What it is?
And the name or the number of the ATF form?

I'm not in the market for guessing or speculation,
but I would LOVE to hear from anybody who KNOWS the true down and dirty about this particular ATF policy (or rule, whatever).

Thanks a million to anybody who does!

    P.S.

These are a number of Remington 700 actions/receivers I am getting.

I have found the ATF form for reporting of MULTIPLE HANDGUN purchases/transfers.
    https://www.atf.gov/firearms/d...-form-33104/download

And something somewhere about special requirements for the four southern border states.

But neither of these apply to me.

I don't see, haven't been able to find, anything about purchase/transfer of multiple (regular old bolt action) rifles.

I'm beginning to wonder if this is all about purchase/transfer of multiple handguns, and doesn't apply to rifles at all.

Just my UPDATE since my OP.

Any info from those in the know still appreciated.

There are a lot of questions coming into play here which you should probably ask your ffl or call the atf.

Transferring a receiver is different than transferring a rifle and might still fall under the same category. Were the actions previously built into rifles? Do they currently have barrels on them? All questions that come into play when transferring them. I know what I as an ffl holder would do in that situation, but I’m not gonna answer for someone else or the atf.

You can either trust your future to someone who thinks they KNOW the answer or you can call the ATF and ask. I can’t imagine why anyone would trust the legal statements of someone posting on public forums.

BTW, if you want the answer the ATF gives you to hold up in court, then you better ask in writing and save the letter. On difficult questions one can sometimes get different answers depending on who answers the phone.
