Is it necessary to lap one-piece mount/ring setup?

Just purchased a Nikon M-223 scope and it came with the one-piece mount/ring setup. Is it necessary to lap these rings? Guess it wouldn't hurt to check it.

With that scope and rings you will not gain much by lapping. I would just mount them and go.

Some one piece rings say "Don't " lap them and if you do it will make it worse, not sure how it could mess a mount up but Nightforce xtreme one piece mount specifically says don't.

think about it, this unit was most likely machined in 2 ops. op 1 is probably the rail atachment side. then op 2 is drilling the hole for the tube, then milling of the ring shape and such.

there is no way a good cnc machine and machinist would make a part that needs lapping.

the rail and scope hole should be almost perfectly parallel. the hole should be super smooth with little or no roughness

Thanks for everyone's responses. Interesting that Nightforce says NOT to lap.
