Great Buy on an older Remington 700 in .222 Remington

I am new to the forum and I really appreciate reading the views and opinions.
The Remington .222 cartridge introduced in 1950 was inherently accurate from the start. The fun of this sport is finding an older rifle and learning the history.
Great things happened after this cartridge came out, this was the first outstanding "varmint" rifle. From here we went to the PPC family and the .223. To the bench rest circuit, that's really cool.
I found a beautiful 700 from an old farmer that said, "it's been sitting in the closet for 20 years but she is a shooter".
It came with a fixed Leopold scope. I am not sure which model I have, the breech is closed (the stock has a plate on the bottom?) can top load five rounds.
The point of this thread is, after I cleaned and oiled this beautiful rifle I added the cartridge to my reload bench and really enjoy the history of our sport. I will treasure this rifle with all my other favorites. He was asking $300 and I paid him every penny.
    Thanks for listening.

Nice! don't know about the 222 but older 700s are cool IMO. Dad has a 700 BDL in 3006 and 7mm Rem mag. Both pretty guns that have seen some time in the Alaska wilderness.

Any pics of your new rifle?

    Yes I have some photos

I put a 3X9X40 Leopold Rifleman series on this fine specimen. I should have wiped it down first, wow what a good camera!

That is the ADL as they called it then. They had the ADL (no floor plate and plain stock, maybe other things) BDL (fancier stock, drop floor plate, maybe other little things) and no idea what the CDL changes were. All basically the same rifle in the different stocks. Cool looking rifles IMO for sure. Nice find

    Your kidding right? lol

Beautiful 700. I hope to find myself an older ADL/BDL some day.
