    Do you have to have a licence for small bird hunting with a .22 ? I was thinking of gettign a .22 for christmas.

    Where do you live? Every state nad country has diffrent laws. In fact mant states you can hunt burds with shotgun only.

    Well you should check your local laws. Like said above, many song type birds should not be shoot just for target practice. Cans on the other hand and targets are what you can hone your skills on.

    I know here in Louisiana we have strict laws on bird hunting. Also, you need a hunting permit down here to hunt ANYTHING.

    Yep, take a look on your provincial hunting laws.
    Here in Quebec, we can hunt partridges with a .22, woodchucks, foxes, coyotes, etc (even wolves I think)

    But its all up to your province's hunting laws. You can look at it on Internet, or any hunting shop in your area should have a hunting booklet for the current year.
