Does anyone think the .300 Weatherby Mag. is a good long-range accurate round(1000 yds?) The trajectory seems to be a lot better, and if i handloaded with Lapua bullets, I think it would be an excellent long range target round. I'm thinking about buying and SC1 in .300 Weatherby.

It does have a great trajectory, but I personally find it a touch overbore, and without a break, I thought it was kinda unpleasant to fire. A tactical rifle is heavier and moderates recoil better than a sporter though.

Personally I think it might be a touch overbore, pushing too much powder for a 30 cal...and unless you plan to reload, match ammo is not out there. 300 Win Mag has match ammo available though.

The cartridge is very capable. But you will need to reload to get good long range loads going.

Barrel life is fairly short, and recoil is stiff. But it would work.
