Im no authority on all of these rifles. I will give a ranking on the rifles I have had experience with. I must say all rifles have thier own characteristics, and alot of critisims are personal. Im sure all of the rifles mentioned would do the job.

1. SAKO TRG 42

From everyone I ask (Mostly Finnish snipers), the Sako TRG-42 is a beautifully-shooting rifle far superior to any other rifle they have in their arsenals.

AI-AWSM is bound to be a good weapon as well.

Number one though would have to be the Sako.

Blazer R93 LRS2
Good rifles, very accurate. Straight pull action is different and a matter of personal taste
score - 3.9

Armalite AR-30
Typical Armalite quality (only okay), accuracy has been decent, design is not condusive to easy deep field use.
score : 3.0

Sako TRG-42
Very high quality, very accurate, well proven.
Score 4.5

Accuracy International AWSM (Arctic Warefare Super Magnum) 338 Lapua
Very rugged, decent accuracy. Have been some recent quality "concerns". Used all over the world. Great field rifle
Score 4.0

Is this one available? They were developing a .338 but I do not remember if it was ever available, and its not listed on their web page.

Dakota Longbow
A high quality, very accurate, bolt gun. More traditional sniper rifle design.
Score 4.1

Of course, these are all my opinions, as well as the scores. Other people will provide different information and different scores, and I'm sure many will find exception to what I have stated....

Dakota is the best (IMO)
it looks sweet, its a VERY accurate, quality
ive had the privlidge of firing it... GREAT rifle

ArmaLite AR-30 is a POS it doesnt diserve a 3.0 then factor in that its ugly... not all ArmaLites are as bad as the AR-30 or 50
its not even close to Sako, Dakota or AI or Blazer's league... id give the AR-30 a 2.0... not all ArmaLites are that bad

heres http://www.kitsune.addr.com/Firearms/Sniper/Barrett_M98.htm a little info on the barrett 98, although It might not be the best rifle to compare with the other rifles being its semi aauto, but since the semi auto are supossed be up to par with the bolts now a days I figured Id throw it in there. Id really be curious as to what kind of grouping youd get at long rang with this gun.....

Thanks for your opinions guys, I guess from all of your replys The finnish have done the best in manufacturing a high quality sniper rifle.

SOME semi-autos are on par with bolt guns for accuracy... MOST arent even close
bolt guns are MUCH more reliable and hold up better in the field

as far as group size goes:
your at the mercy of the environment and thats more saying what the shooter's skill in determining the wind and crap like that will do to the round than it is the gun's accuracy...

CPD shoots the sig blaser rifle, and boy do they shoot. Strange looking rifle, but quick straight pull bolt, and real smooth. Priced to match the quality of course.
