I found a pretty funny list of gun control jokes you guys might wanna see...some of my favs...

5. We must get rid of guns because a deranged lunatic may go on a shooting spree at any time and anyone who would own a gun out of fear of such a lunatic is paranoid.

12. The 2nd Amendment, ratified in 1787, refers to the National Guard, which was created 130 years later, in 1917.

33. We should ban "Saturday Night Specials" and other inexpensive guns because it's not fair that poor people have access to guns too.

28. The right of Internet pornographers to exist cannot be questioned because it is constitutionally protected by the Bill of Rights, but the use of handguns for self defense is not really protected by the Bill of Rights.

How can you unelightened folks make jokes about gun control?
Gun control works because sooner or later all of our law-abiding criminals will either register their guns or else give them up.

We just have to be patient. And we have to set a good example for the criminals by giving up our property first.

Mad.

I've refrained from saying anything concerning gun control, but my personal policy dictates there is no compromise with rights. no moderation what-so-ever. period.

When it comes to gun control, I'm with you all. I've known many gun-toting criminals, and not one of them purchased their guns legally. And as someone else said, an armed person is a citizen, an unarmed person is a subject. Personally, I think the whole gun control issue is a way to keep the country divided when we should be functioning together. The more divided we are, the easier it is for them to take away our rights. Now, when it comes to healthcare, well, let's not get into that....

Yea, what you said. :D My main thing is that since we have such vast financial resources we should able to come up with a way to have free healthcare. If we can come up with billions of dollars for a war, we should be able to come up with millions for healthcare. Also, on an interesting note, I think the population should earn this right by a manditory one year of service in either the military or coast guard. Not just men, but the whole population (barring medical reasons).

Recoil has a good point, I had thought I had read somewhere that every American male could be considered a member of the Militia.

My gunsmith is an older Swiss gentleman, and he told me that every man in Switzerland has a Sig assault rifle in his closet, and has to qualify with it every year to maintain his citizenship.

Something like that would work really well, with let's say 4 quals per year. One marksmanship, one topo and navigation, one basic fitness, one first aid. Throw a training excersize in there with the NG every year or so and you have a capable militia :D

APK had a really good point too. I see people in the armed forces as volunteering to do my duty for me, and their sacrifices make it possible for me to live my lazy civilian life to the fullest. They earn our freedom, and they choose to. We all have that luxury because they made it possible for us.
