i have a few bushmasters, they all are sub moa, most WAY under
Bushmaster has made rifles for the military and they have been very reliable... i wouldnt trust Colt
as far as RRA or Bushmaster, there both good, id prefer Bushmaster
i havnt yet fired RRA but even my Bushmaster M4 Carbine gets down around 3/4 MOA, my 20" target model (w/ hbar) shoots much better and my varminter puts factory ammo through the same hole at 100y
i vote Bushmaster... they cost $100 more than RRA though

Instead of buying a bushmaster, you should get a dpms. Reason being dpms biult 60% of there parts. So in fact you are paying for the name, when you get the same quality in the dpms. I know this for a fact, and that is something for me to say, cause I am a bushmaster ar15 master armorer. If it was me though I would buy the rock river! They are hand fitted and have better triggers.

If you do AR's I'm in on that! RRA sounds good! I've never really considered Panther Arms.

I would prefer either RRA or Bushmaster unless you can get a smokin' deal on a Panther M4 type....uhmm....SDog. :D

If you can get a few people together I can can you a M4 collapsable with detatch carry handle, step down heavy barrel, chrome bolt , and a forged reciever from dpms for 859.99 that is about 75$ below msrp if I remember

I say that if one is interested in an AR-15, one should build it like Johnny Cash's Cadillac. (one piece at a time)

First build yourself an upper assembly. It is quite easy to do. Then once you have an upper, you can decide whether to buy a complete upper from an FFL or whether to build up an 80% lower.

I like Bushmaster parts. Get a Bushmaster barrel assembly and join it to a Bushmaster or Rock River Arms upper. ( The Bushmaster and RRA uppers are both apparently made by LAR Grizzly Arms.)

If you build up your AR one piece at a time, it is easier to do. It is easier to pay for a build that is done via installment. And at the end of the day, you will have the exact rifle that you wanted.

Try an AR-10. I think its pretty much the 308 version of the AR-15.

Come on 12twist, you should know better than that  But you are fairly new, so I'll give you some slack :D

I'm looking for specifics for a build up. I'm very familiar with what "complete" rifles are available out there for .308 variants but want to build one up my own way.

I don't have a whole lot of experience with a variety of ar's, but it's my favorite. I've heard from someone who does that the Armalite 2-stage trigger about the best. Also that the Bushmaster .308's are as accurate as Armalite or whoever, but less pricey. I'd like to have an SR-25. I think they are out of production and gaining value; the mags alone are usually $90-100+. But listen to the guys with the first hand experience. I gotta say that this sucks, a topic on my favorite gun and I can't contribute much. :(

EDIT: One other thought; a buddy of mine had and Olypic Arms for a while and I wasn't that impressed with build, they ground down some of the egdes with a really coarse grinding wheel and you could really tell. It's accuracy wasn't bad for a basic plinker though. I've also seen some finishes on them that weren't that good.

Well where should I start???? Okay again, armalite recievers suck, the crack they are too thin, biult poorly for te 308! There two stage trigger :D good, I took one and reworked it and now it is frickin awesome. I use it for my 458 socom. Now I already talked to mele on the phone about this, but until they start releasing the recievers buy themselves, than no one is biulding anything. I am waiting for dpms to ship me some along with the 308 m4 collapsables that I am promised. Of course I am still waiting on my 6.8 uppers. Sniperdog
