Remington 700P or Savage 10FP LE. Most commonly used sniper round is the .308, although there are bullets that may/do perform better.

what do you intend to use the rifle for? best question to ask before you buy one... some rifles are better for cetrain things than others
hunting? if so what game?
target shooting? if so what range?

you say you love recon and sniping so im guessing you want a sniper rifle then Scatch is right a Remington 700P or Savage 10 FP in .308 are your best deals in the world of low budget sniper rifles

How much are you looking to spend.... does that include optics.... are you going to be shooting paper targets with this rifle from a bench or do you plan on using it to take down critters.... or maybe 2 leged critters?
