I would suggest 69 or 77gr HPBT by Sierra. They are awsome rounds and I wouldn't use anything else. 69 is only limited (so I have heard) after about 400yds. 77 is capapble of greater ranges, but inside 300 the 69 tears things apart! Especially prarie dogs. :D

try sportsmans guide, I can give you a $10 off coupon on a order of $99 or more. I just ordered 150 rnds of Talon 50 bmg, my first order from them, nice folks.

Is this for your new Panther Bull 20? if so..........just go ahead and buy the good stuff

You can always find cheap .223 Remington UMC ammo at your local Walmart.

The price is about $4 per box of 20.

I can't even handload for that price.

Typically you can buy 4 or 5 boxes at the typical Walmart. Then cruise down the highway to the next Walmart. In short order you will have your 500 rounds.

If you have a shop that stocks PMC, I've had decent success with the standard PMC 55gr load, it also is $3.99.

here is some Olympic (Greece) M193 for $70 per 500
http://www.jandcsales.com/223_ammo.htm

here is some ligit lake city M193 for $95 per 500
http://www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=147396

or some federal USGI overrun SS109
http://www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=140094

Now, I did notice that the CMP has some lake city 7.62x51 147gr lose ammo for pretty cheap. 750-800 rounds for $120. For ligit lake city, that would be good plinking ammo for a good price.

The Greek manufactured "M-193" is actually NATO M-193 that does not fullfill the US DOD specs... its not so accurate.

The Lake City M-193 stuff is all good ammo... you should get around .75 MOA with a standard A2 gov. barrel.

The Federal "SS-109" is actually M-855... made to better specs than Greek manufactured SS-109 ammo. (uses the same bullet but the propellants are different... and made to more tight tollerances ensuring it to be more accurate) You can expect 1 MOA with a Standard A2 gov barrel with the M-855 ammo. The reason the M-855 ammo is less accurate than the M-193 is because the steel nose cone in the bullet is hard to place exactly in the center... so its almost always a little off center.
