yeah i went and downloaded a movie clip of it off yahoo movies, then downloaded a screenshot taker to get a full screen photo of the same pic. unfortunately if you look close enough right behind the bolt handle you'll see a clumped together weld spot. If looked at closely youll also see there is no way the bolt can be manuevered back. Still I think this would be a great project for a mauser, remington or 03' action so im going to look into it more. I can get an action and aftermarket barrel easily for the following, so are there any ideas on how much it would cost to build up a custom stock?(obvious something ill have to weld myself.)
thx yall

It looks like a long action size-wise.......and there is no "Beef" around the chamber...........seems the props department has screwed or welded a .22 barrel onto a large receiver.......

Heck that kit Spade showed to turn a 22lr into a WA2000 looked better than that thing. I personally like the scope mount, odd piece of work. Is it a PSG-looking thing?

I think they just gave props a picture, a plasma cutter, and some tin with the order to "do your thing, kid".

Is that a cheapie mauser action in there?

Yeah, its odd trying to figure out just exactly what they have there. I know Matt Damon actually trained on a ligit .308 tactical rifle while prepping for the part, BUT, I have no idea if it had anything to do with the rifle used in the movie. Notice the scope is a Zeiss.... someone at least knows good glass. (its obvoiusly Zeiss in a few of the other shots during this scene)

Hello all,

I'm not sure if most of you know this but there is a kit that can convert you ruger 10/22 into a wa2000 the stock is made by www.ironwooddesigns.com not sure if it's any good but for those of you who want to build a larger caliber version you could try to reverse engineer the model and with a little imaginitive thinking might get lucky.
The rifle on the movie in most likely what they call a catz gun.
Many times, especially in well funded movies and for licencing problems
directors will hire weapons-prop specialsits and tecnical advisors. There is a company in california that creates these prop weapons and has worked for movies such as Mission Impossible,Navy Seals and other blockbusters.I'd be willing to bet that they made about 4 or 5 prop rifles for shooting different angles such as the scope angle or close-up of the trigger angle.
My wife is an actress/musician [nothing significant or major but she gets paid] and I once worked as a tecnical advisor for a film. The pay was great but the director never really paid attention to what I had to say.He was one of those art-guys and really excentric.
So long and short of this rant is that if you want that rifle you'll have to build it yourself sorry guys, but hey you might create a million dollar idea in the process
cheers,
Kenshin
