Don't know if anyone has tried this one yet. It seems coated cleaning rods are all the rage now. I have 2 real nice stainless steel rods which are not coated. Then the little light came on in my head. Get the long , 3 feet, pieces of heat shrink tubing and shrink it over my cleaning rods. In .30 cal there is plenty of room and no dragging cleaning rod against inside of barrel. Works great. If you have the multi piece rods razor cut at joints.

funny... i remember cleaning rods, but i always used a bore snake. more easily compact, quieter ( for the field) and 99% clean with one pass through.
