I tried to search the forum but couldn't really find an answer so...

...My Colt's blueing is pretty bad in a few areas from years of neglect, from gone to tiny rust spots. I am wondering if anyone has tried to Parkerizing a pistol themselves, and if so how did it turn out? I am capable of doing things myself, complete disassembly, prep work, bead blasting etc. Not to worried about it not being original, it's not going anywhere. I just don't want to make the effort if the "do it yourself Parkerizing" looks like crap, in the end.

To answer your question, I have seen some nice work and utter crap come from home brew parkerizing setups if your going that route do several test runs on scrap metal and less important stuff.

No my opinion I wouldn't refinish it I actually have a old Colt army in 32-20 I just keep it oiled up and try to preserve what finish is left, if I did any thing I would have it hot blued back to the original finish.
