Just wanted to let everyone know that construction will begin on a customers SC1 rifle with an A2 stock. I said that I wanted to get a couple of months worth of trial and error done before I would commit to using the A2-A5 stocks. Well, its been a couple of months, and a customer was willing to pay the extra for the A2 stock (with spacer system) and willing/able to wait the extra time it'll take to get the stock.

Anyway, I am in the process of making a dedicated SC1 page and it should be up soon explaining the details of the rifles.

FYI all stocks are mcmillan:

SC1 - Winchester Marksman Stock
SC1A1 - A1 (HTG) stock
SC1A2 - A2
SC1A3 - A3 stock
etc

Mel - you gotta do better than that.

I have two "custom" rifles. Both makers "signed" their work by engraving their name on the barrel, just in front of the action. You need to come up with a cool logo or at least your name - (I mean even remington stamps its name into the action).

I know!!! You need a CONTEST to come up with a logo for your site. something cool looking, but easy to engrave....... Winner gets.........

!

I would love to be able to put somthing custom on it....I have no idea how much extra cost it would be to get a catchy slogan put on the action.

Like a "1 shot 1 kill" or "reach way out and touch someone" or my sig v v

Just some ideas. I like the idea of sniper central having its own logo or design though.

Are there any graphic artists in the group? I do mechanical design so that leaves me out. I can draw the rifle to the specs I just can't draw a logo to save my life.

I can do the logo, at least a decent job anyway (it depends upon what you want).

Getting my drawing transferred to a format for engraving is the hard part, especially if the logo is not drawn to scale (which makes it significantly easier).

I think folks should send logo submissions as .jpg e-mail attachements, or otherwise post them in the Gallery area. Obviously your name and this site will be intimately connected with these rifles (if you put the logo on the action), so I'm not sure you really want a "blood dripping" slogan to go with your logo. But hey, that's why you get the big bucks - - right!!!

I'm going to have to start submitting a bill with these great ideas of mine.

Hi Mel, I think a simple brand name with model designation (as opposed to a "logo") would work best....eg.

E W I N G SC1 a1

- M E L W I N G -
SC1 a2

V I N W I N G SC1 a3

I like the melwing option as a brand and would use an elongated letter style in capitals with double spacing between each letter. A sugested letter style would be "eurostyle bold extended" or something similar....something that looks like how "P O R S C H E" do it on their cars.
A friend has had names put onto receivers by a computor controled laser method, which works perfectly. After coating the rifle black I put red enamel paint into the letters then back-wiped the excess off to leave the name nicely highlighted. If you can find a local laser etcher to do it, the advantage is total consistency. (it wasn't expensive here...about $18.00 USD) Hope this helps.

AlphaOne,

Roger that... and there will be pictures coming soon!

I will be adding a "in progress" page that will replace the current "project" page. On the in progress page there will be a few links to individual projects in progress (one being the original prototype page, and another the SC1A2 currently being built). Perhaps this weekend I'll be able to get those pages up.
