I missed the hung teddy + blood, but I've always been interested in urban exploration (exploring abandoned structures in urban areas)--despite these buildings not necessarily being in rural areas.

One bad thing about the west coast (vs. the east) is the definite lack of abandoned structures such as this. If the author didn't live in New Jersey, I'd tell him to get his CCW and stop whining about how 'scary the presence of cults' might be. A bunch of jackasses in robes aren't going to be able to protect their aortas with spirits and all that.

Nah, I would check those out too, would be interesting to take a crawl and get creeped out. I am pretty sure Aorta Maroo is right and his Glock would keep him safe and sound but I think I would carry my good old 45-70 for the extra "oomph"
