Okay fellas here it is:

Federal Gold Medal Match 168 gr. BTHP or Government Issue Sniper M118LR?

WHich is it? Any experience showing that one is superior to the other? I have used the Federal, never could get any M118LR (as I expect it is hard to get for a civilian) but I did love the Federal. Just curious to see what y'all think.

Mel is supposed to supplement his earlier test of Match Grade ammo with some testing of the 118LR, but that has not yet been posted. No longer having access to military ammo, I'll have to rely upon Mel or others to give me the straight scoop.

First, you should compare the federal 175 and the M118LR, they are almost idenditcal. Both use the Sierra 175 Match King, with the federal shooting at 2600fps and the 118LR launched at 2580fps. I do have access to 118LR, but I have to buy a case of it, and I don't have those funds right now.... perhaps soon. The LR ammo is excellent, and rather surprising coming from Lake City and mass produced like it is. I still feel the Federal will be a bit more accurate, but will not know until I test them side by side. Just for ease of getting the stuff, I would recommend Federal or Blackhills.
