Does anyone know of a web site which caters to handgun enthusiasts similarly to Sniper Central? I found a rather large one which was focused solely on Glocks, and proved rather large and complete. Unfortunately, though, a number of the law enforcement officers who were members to the site expounded the "Us (police) versus them (civillians)" doctrine, and it was kind of scary.

Note that for my entire life I've wanted to be a police officer, and upon graduation, hope to work for a busy department like Oakland or Richmond, and understand that the job can distort one's perception... but there are plenty of officers who resist such distortion, and I can only hope to not just emulate those officers, but be surrounded by them. I felt that disclaimer would be necessary to avoid accusations of persecution.

In summation, every person here on Sniper Central is obviously educated (formally, or informally) and it makes a world of difference not only in terms of aptitude of rifles, but in overall communications skills, and that's what I'm looking for elsewhere, too, I suppose.

I have not seen anything that caters to handguns in general, but have had good experiences on the 1911 forum (but its only for discussing 1911 issues and some specific makers of 1911s).

They seemed really welcoming to newbees like me (I just found it last week).

GlockTalk.com has a lot of members and a lot of different threads regarding... well, Glocks. They also have forums dedicated to the 1911, as well as a variety of other types. There are the intelligible, and the not so intelligible on this web site (any time a disagreement arises, you'll notice), so... *shrugs*.
