I know the 5.56/.223 is supposed to have long barrel life with standard ammo and twist rates, but what about the kind of .223s that are used for long range target competitions? I'm talking about heavy bullets (69 grains and up) and fast twist rates (say 1:9, or 1:8 and faster). I guess I'm just wondering if expected barrel life takes a steep drop when one goes this route with a .223. Anyone have any idea?

Thanks in advance.

You should get atleast 5 thousand rounds through it (accuracy wise) if you properly clean it. Now... of coarse you can put 30 or 40 thousand rounds through it and it will work... but it wont be very accurate.
