Anyone out there have experience with, or no anything about, the Howa 1500 series rifles? Especially the Varmit Model. Are they any good for tactical use? Someone told me that they were dimensionally identical to the Weatherby Vanguard Series, Then some one else said they were basically a civilian Mauser 98 action. What's up?

All I've done so far is fondle em in the store, but I know they're not mauser 98 clones...I think they straight up are a weatherby vanguard though. I mean, weatherby sells them as the vanguard. Cody221 here on the board uses one a lot and knows a lot about them.

Mel reviewed a Howa varminter here

they are very similiar, the only difference between the vanguard and the howa is the housing on the end of the bolt and the barrels are better and put on better on the vanguard, hence the 1.5 moa guarantee(or .99 guarantee if u buy sub moa
