I have read the review on the Howa Varminter Supreme on this site. I am looking for a new rifle in 223 for target and varmint shooting. I really like this rifle and it has a lot of the features i like. I have always had remingtons and rugers, and am kind of afraid of buying this foreign made rifle. The review says it is a good shooter, and a quality gun...have any of you had any experiences with this rifle, or any howa rifles?? Thanks!

I haven't got any experience with these rifles, but I do know that it was Howa who Weatherby has making their rifles like the Vanguard etc. So they can't be too bad.

Also, for an affordable .223 for varmint/target work, the Savage model 12BVSS and CZ 527 are viable contenders. A bit more expensive, but worth every penny are the rifles made by Tikka and Sako over there in Finland.

I picked up the Howa that was actually used in Mel's write up at a local gun show. I havn't shot alot with it, but every time I do is wonderful. I have never had a problem with it. I really like the stock on it as well, fits like it was made for me. It shoots great too, right around 1/2 MOA. I am very happy with mine and think it is great for the money. Mine is a .308 and I know you said that you were looking for a .223, so I'm not sure how those will shoot, but the ones that I have seen at shows look about the same. I would definantly recommend it to a friend.
