I've been testing a new batch of M118LR ammo that I recently had delivered by the CMP. It runs warm through the Patriot (as in 1.0 MOA flatter than Federal Gold Medal Match 175s at 300 yards), but the Patriot seems to like the taste, and I've only flattened one primer out of the 120 rounds that I've shot so far. I went out yesterday and shot a bunch more (60 Rounds) to see if my accuracy results were going to be consistent across several boxes of the ammo. They were. When the shooter did his part, the ammo certainly held its own - even in the rain. (I was under cover, but the weather varied from cloudy and 92% humidity to raining pretty hard; the wind was 3-8 mph and gusty from 4-5 O'clock)
It was absolutely facinating to me to see the elevation change with the start of the rain. Looking at the Target, I seethat the bullet impact changed elevation the equivalent of 1.0 MOA depending if it was raining or not during these last 40 shots (starting out just below the 10 ring and ending up high in the 10 ring). My spotting scope was fogging so badly during the shoot, it was hard to see anything so I didn't make any elevation changes and simply worked on trying to read the wind (got some of the changes, but some got me -
).
Here are the last 40 rounds that I shot from the 300 yard line. The X-ring is 1.75" across, the 10 ring is 3.75", and the 9 ring is 6.25". Not my best day at the range, but not one from which to be totally embarassed.
