This could be a stupid ? But why can i drive a greyhound bus underneath most of the mounted scopes in
these pictures ?
A couple of reasons, scopes have to clear the fore end, unlike most traditional rifles where you mount the scope is about the same level as where the bell sits.

Also there is no drop in the butt pad, they are inline, meaning you're face is going to be higher, so the scope had to be higher.

ok but i have scopes with 50mm bells and 44 mm bell ends even my 44 s only have less than a 1/4 gap and my 50s clear the forend by about 2 sheets thickness of paper or roughly 15 thou of an inch..... i swear in one pic there is no cheek welled,,,, its a chin welled.....
