ok i have a great chance to by a new leupold very very cheap.. so i am looking for suggestings as to what i should get. i.e. fixed power or vari... power and any other options i should get. i am also under the feeling that since i am going to be able to get some a very good scope for a very cheap price, i want to get as good of one as i can.

as far as what kind of shooter i am. well right now i am just a target shooter and i dont even have acces to a range that is over 200 yards.... but i hope in the future to be geting to ranges that are much longer. so i need someones help in figuring out what kind of scope to buy...HELP ME PLEASE

thanks again all

I would get the best Var-pwr MkIV I could get. I know mel has a thing for fixed, but I like the versatility offered by Vari pwrs.

I would purchase the best one you can afford. The quality goes up with the price. Buy a VX-1 over a rifleman, a VX-II over a VXI, a VXIII over VXII, a LR over a non LR etc etc

I prefer fixed for tactical use, variable for range/fun use
