Does anyone else here have any experience with the
Long Range Shooting Simulator by http://www.shooterready.com/
If so what are your thoughts about it.

I personally have a copy on my PC and think it is Neat as can be.
But never meet anyone else familiar with the product.

Hey Guys,
That program is one of the very best things you can buy to further your knowledge and skill in this field...

I hear you Kaz. I never once got the range correct on it. I did keep it on 10 power to make my calculations and that always had me closer than 20X. There is something I am missing from the equation because in real life I have no probs with my mildot and first round hits out to 800 (so long the wind isnt too bad)

Hey Guys,
The first time I started working with the disk, I had a lot of second and third round hits. After a little practice, I manage to get first round hits most of the time. It forces you to cover all the fundamentals, including elevation, which most folks omit. You really have to learn to split that mil reading down, or you won't get an accurate range to the target.
Shooting on a known distance rifle range is not the same thing as firing at an unknown distance target you have to mil a range to, and then call wind for, especially when it's on the back side of the ballistic curve. It's all the more difficult if you've traveled to shoot there, and it's outside your normal AO...
The Shooter Ready disk is outstanding. I've been using it for some time now. It's also recommended by Vern Harrison of Central Virginia Tactical for all of his students.
Respectfully,
Harry

Guys I started using a different version of the formula. I dont know why it works any different than the others but for some reason I started getting first round hits through the 338. I did this:

(height in inches/36)x1000/height or width in mils.

again I dont think that would change anything but for some reason I was getting closer to the range calls. I did seem to ave about 25 yards short of what i doped for but I was still connecting..

I would call this an outstanding adjunct to field training. It will give you a solid foundation to build on and use as a exercise in between live fire work. It has given me a much better fundamental understanding of all the different components. Plus, I like the time delay on the "clunk" when the sound of the hit comes back to you. :)
