I have been getting a boat load of emails from members here and a few other boards to do a project like this. I have photographed a number of expensive guns (ie. MP5SD's, M60's, hell I've taken pictures of a $230,000 book), but never had the time to focus on those that I really wanted to photograph. I imagine that this will be rough locating these, but any help at all would be truely appreciated. I have 2 parts to take care of: 1 to compile a list of the top 20 or so exotic sniper rifles. 2 locate them and photograph them (preferably in a suitable enviroment). If this is not appealing, I apologize, I am just tired of seeing factory images of $30,000 dollar guns, when they should be poster quality If you have a sniper rifle that you believe to be in this class or have any other questions or help, please email me at [email protected]

Here are two that I believe should be featured:

Walther WA2000
H&K PSG-1

Good luck on the Walther WA 2000; It's a collector's item at this point, what with only 150 or so being made. You'll be lucky if you find someone who owns one, much less is willing to make the time to arrange for you to photograph one.

The PSG-1 is rare, but not impossible to find. Quite a few auction sites manage to have quite a few of these. Alternatively, you could contact HK USA, show the some of your pictures, and ask if they could arrange for you to photograph one for them; Although it would HAVE to be in the HK Facility in Virgina, as I doubt they are shipping one to you, and that's still IF they are able to provide a PSG-1 for a test. They are Custom made on order, I believe, but they should have a show room copy at least lying around.

Good luck; Your pictures are definitely better then the factory pictures lying around, and with a little bit of luck, you might land yourself a contract and a reputation.

To help with the list, I'd suggest in addition to the 2 mentioned:

AW Arctic Warfare (L96A1, PSG90, or whatever you want to call it)
Steyr SSG PI (A classic)
M24
M40A1 & A3
Parker Hale M85
SVD
SV-98
C3A1
Sako TRG-22/42
Galil Sniper
FR-F2
---- others -----
Tac-Ops (I can help here)
Robar
Chandler
Sig SSG3000

and I'm sure there are some others that will REALLY be a pain (ERMA100, DSR1)

hope it helps

First let me say thank to those in support and for the 12 people who emailed me with rifles to possibly photograph. Here is the list that I have compiled. If I did not list a rifle that you feel should be on there I apologize and you are welcome to email me or post it. The grounds that I chose these were not nessicairly because of accuracy, but because they were all unique in one way or another.

  • Erma SR-100
    Steyr AMR
Sako TRG 21 or 42 (not both)
    PGM Mini-Hecate
    H&K PSG-1
    Walther WA2000
    Galil Sniper (maybe)
    Knight’s Armament SR-25
    Dragunov SVD (1st generation)
    Sig Sauer 550
    Barrett M-82
    Sig Sauer SSG 3000
Accuracy International (any but probably an AWP)
M21 (maybe, if one can be located that is unique or pristine)

Another really interesting one would be that new Russian one (the name eludes me at this point) that is selective-fire, integrally supressed, caliber 9x39mm. But good luck, as I do not even know if there are any outside of the former Soviet Union. Or even if the Ruskies are producing them on a large scale. But it'd be neat to have in your collection.

Vintorez! Thats the name of it, Vintorez...

Jake,
That would be a nice one to photograph as well since I can't find many decent pics of it. Also to this board, thank you for goin easy on me, I feel like the snipershide.com wants to hang me as a witch. Trust isn't as easy to find now as it used to be, and neither are any of these rifles.

Well a photoshoot for the Blaser LRS2 is now in the planning stages. Hope everyone will enjoy the pics. Also, I am trying to get Leupold as a client (doing their photo work), so anyone who knows someone there or has time to send them an email I would be truely grateful for. Also I think I have the proper email address for them so PM or email me if you need it.
Thanks a ton

No worries, I like Mels site because he hasn't "sold out" like some other sites. And the fact he is a former brother in the Army helps, and not a pajamma commando.

I think this fact alone attracts more real shooters than teenagers pretending to be former S.A.S. sharpshooters.

And I dont worry about the pics, I am pretty sure they will be rockin', it just makes me want to spend my money when I shouldn't.

Hum, I keep hearing comments about some of the other sites out there, and it kind of saddens me.

Well, I hope the site continues to meet everyones expectations. I do have a review of the Burris coming out in 2 weeks, and have lined up a review rifle from patriot arms. Plus a spotting scope review... and dreams of more project rifles :D

Also, I can provide a Tac-Ops Bravo-51 for photos if desired.

Art work is correct CM2K. As for the first ones to get done, I imagine I will photograph my LTR when I return home from a vacation/photo shoot, then next will be Mel's Bravo and/or SC rifles. I will also be doing the photographs used for Accu-Shot (tactical monopods) that will probably be used at the upcoming shot show. If business goes well for the rest of the summer, I will also buy a dragunov (or one of the varients) just so I can photograph it.
