I found a used Springfield Armoury M1A. I believe it is a NM since it has NM sites. The bbl is supposed to be NM but not marked NM unless it is under the stock. Rifle is like new condition. It looks like the guy never fired it. I can get it for $1299. Is that a good price? If so I will buy it tomorrow. It has the box it came in, paperwork, manual etc with it.

If it is like you say...National Match, like new condition. That seems like a very nice price. On the SA website they price them at 2100$

Eka, that sounds like a great price!!! You can't even get a standard model for that price where I live! M1A's are a damn fine weapon!

I am going to go pull out the credit card tomorrow and get it assuming it is still there. Thanks for the feedback.

You might want to do a double check on that. The SA "loaded" packages are standard rifles that come with some NM components. (which is probably what this rifle is for that price)

Even if it is this model, it still sounds like a good deal if its in as good a condition as you say. If its a walnut stock, street values are about $1600, if its fibreglass stock, the price is about $1500.

Checking on the site it is the loaded rifle, but I bought it anyway. Yes it is in exellant shape and fired very little if at all. It comes with one 10 round mag and two 5 rd mags, the original box, manual, and a military FM for the M-14 reproduction. The only crappy thing is being Kalifornia there is a 15 day waiting perioud for all firearms purchesed here. :x I doubt I will lose money on the deal since the price of these has climbed steadly over the last few years.

Good choice!

Need to post those pics ASAP!
As soon as the KGB..... errr I mean the Ca department of Justace lets me take it home in 15 days. After all just because I carry a loaded rifle and handgun with a vest full of spare mags doesnt mean I might not be buying this one to do people harm and need 15 days to think about it. Besides the FBI check and psylogical testing I did for my job wasnt near enough, they have to do their own in case the FBI, and before that the Sheriff dept missed something.

Yea, I plan on scoping it out. Any M1A scope mounts to stay away from? I know there are several out there.

Crap, thats right it is 10 now. After the federal mandatory 5 day waiting perioud the state of CA read it as 5 days in addition to their 10 days. But that was changed to 10, thanks. Why the heck I was thinking 15 I don't know. I'ts not like I haven't bought a rifle since then. Sorry for the bad intel guys, I had a case of crainial rectosis.

Where in CA do you live, Ekaphoto? Please don't be from So-Cal, too--the ranks are too thin up here!

I live in Eureka,Humboldt county, about 300 miles north of you near the Oregon border. This is not the California most people think of. It is very rural with lots of mountains and trees. Some folks refer to this as Oklahoma by the sea. This year we have had 4 bears shot in town. Mountain lions are spotted constantly. Trust me, there is lots of room for them here. I have a link below that tells you about the area. Give me a call if you ever wonder up this way.
